Results of Survey on Media Consumption and Media Literacy

In June 2019, Advanced Public Research Group NGO (hereinafter APR Group) conducted a sociological survey in all the regions of Armenia and in Yerevan within the framework of the sub-grant provided by the Union of Informed Citizens NGO.

The research study examined the main sources of information for the population, and their trust in them. There was a separate focus on how people use the information received from the television, radio, newspapers, the Internet (including social networks and online media), to what extent they trust it, and how people disseminate and check the information they receive. Moreover, all these data were considered not only by social, sex and age and other groups but also by people’s political views in order to understand whether media literacy has any relation to political views.

In May 2019, a sociological survey was conducted on the whole territory of the Republic of Armenia by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor with the involvement of “Advanced Public Research Group” (APR Group) non-governmental organization. The survey was conducted for the 5th time since 2014 and was aimed at discovering the public sentiment towards international organizations, namely, European Union and Eurasian Economic Union.
Interesting facts have been recorded as a result of the comparison of surveys conducted in different years.

Policy papers on empowerment of the Trade Union rights

Artboard-APR-GroupAs a result of the research carried out within the framework of “Supporting to collective mechanisms for protection of labor rights” project two policy papers were developed: “Factors hindering labor rights protection and means of their elimination” and “Enlarging competencies of Armenian trade unions: social partnership, collective negotiations, strike and judicial protection”.
“Supporting to collective mechanisms of protection of labor rights” project is funded by the Embassy of the USA in Armenia and implemented by “Advanced Public Research Group” NGO. The goal of the project is to promote alternative trade union movement in Armenia as a collective labor rights protection mechanism.

Trade Unions should be reformed for protection of labor rights

Artboard-APR-GroupOn February 26, 2019 “Advanced Public Research Group” (APR Group) NGO organized the presentation of the research report on collective labor rights protection mechanisms, as well as public discussions on further trade union reforms and improvement of efficiency of trade union activities.
In her opening speech Somer Bessire Briers, political officer at the US Embassy in Armenia emphasized the importance of labor rights protection and added that strong trade unions are key to protection of those rights and expressed the readiness of the embassy to support efforts targeting labor rights protection.
